Organize device deployments into groups that fit your needs.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PttQgwq2CRg

Hierarchy features enable the organization of device deployments into logical groups that fit your needs. This helps service providers or enterprises easily push individual device, site, or network-wide changes and provide advanced device customization at scale.

Hierarchy levels

  1. Account

  2. Service provider

  3. Enterprise

  4. Domain

  5. Tenant

While it is only possible to have one Account, you can add other hierarchy levels as you might need to organize and manage the devices in your network. It is important to note that phones are managed at the Domain and Tenant level. The other levels of the hierarchy act as folders for organizing your templates, users, and logs.

Tip: Hierarchy is best used to organize your network of devices based on your deployment and needs.

EXAMPLES

Hierarchy organized by region

Awesome VoIP Company manages the phones for Pizza Pizza. They have created a hierarchy for Pizza Pizza based on the franchise type at the Enterprise level and then the regions of the stores at the Domain level, followed by the individual locations at the Tenant level.

As you can see below, Awesome VoIP Company manages additional customers at the Service Provider level. The hierarchy can be customized to meet the requirements and complexities of different customer types.

Hierarchy organized by department

Hospital (multi-location)

Hosted VoIP Provider / Voip Reseller 1 / St Joe’s Hospital / Bethpage NY / Pediatrics

This example is a hospital with multiple locations across the country. The hospital sits at the Enterprise level. We have the Domain level assigned to different cities in which the hospital operates. Departments, which often require unique settings, are organized at the Tenant level.

Local school district (multi-location)

Hosted VoIP Provider / Voip Reseller 1 / Tampa SD / Bay High School / Classrooms

This example takes a more local approach. Here we are managing phones for a local school district. The school district is created at the Enterprise level. Below that, at the Domain level, we have each location within that district. Lastly, at the Tenant level, we have organized our devices by their use case. Often we see groups of users that want specific customizations based on the use case. For example, admin offices may have certain unique features, while devices in the classrooms are limited to specific speed dials.

Law office (single location)

Hosted VoIP Provider / Voip Reseller 1 / SINGLE LOCATION Customers / Matt’s Law Office / Conference Rooms or Attorney’s or Front Desk

Easily manage single-location businesses by creating them at the Domain level and organizing the devices by the department at the Tenant level.

Hierarchy organized by brand

You might want to organize by brand, if you have specific technicians who only work on one brand of device.

The Phonism template engine does everything by brand, so templates can be applied to manage by brand and the hierarchy can still be by location.

By brand (single location)

Hosted VoIP Provider / Voip Reseller 1 / Polycom Customers / Mike’s Insurance / Sales Dept

We have also seen some service providers who have a mix of devices at a particular site. You can manage different brand types at the Tenant level for a specific Enterprise.
